Shardeum’s Proof of Community aims to spread blockchain literacy and bring 10,000 people on chain through 200+ local meetups worldwide. The program combines practical PayFi demonstrations with hands-on learning experiences and prioritizes meaningful engagement over mere user acquisition, building a foundation for sustainable Web3 growth.
Over the past three years, Shardeum’s Proof of Community initiative has delivered hands-on blockchain education across 22 countries, hosting 500+ meetups and educating over 28k participants, enabling students, developers, and everyday users to explore Web3 firsthand. With the mainnet now live, Shardeum confirms sub-$0.01 fees and instant transfers regardless of volume or transaction size.
Building on this foundation, the new #MyFirstSHM campaign introduces users to the real-world utility of SHM through low-cost, instant global payments in the Payment Finance (PayFi) space. Participants will receive an SHM allocation, plus a bonus for completing a follow-up transaction within 30 days deepening engagement and preparing them to lead future Proof of Community events in their communities.
Each meetup is designed as a tangible introduction to Web3, where participants:
- Set up MetaMask wallets with Shardeum RPC
- Receive and transfer testnet SHM tokens
- Engage in real-world use cases like tipping, voting, and micro-payments
- A tangible introduction to Web3 enabling them to explore PayFi
The campaign is focused on practical, in-person education helping first-time users set up wallets, interact with the SHM token, and experience real blockchain use cases. With a key focus on hands-on engagement, Shardeum meetup is designed to give participants a tangible introduction to Web3 enabling them to explore peer-to-peer transactions, token-based voting, micro-payments, and community-driven activities using SHM in a real-world setting.
Shahzad Nathani, Head of Operations and Partnerships at Shardeum “Education is the foundation of meaningful adoption. This initiative brings blockchain directly to users giving them the tools, the knowledge, and the firsthand experience to understand and engage with Web3. But more than that, it’s about enabling communities to build with confidence. By focusing on in-person engagement and real-world use cases, we’re creating a model for decentralized adoption that is scalable, inclusive, and sustainable. We believe this is essential to ensure Web3 doesn’t remain a niche but becomes truly global and accessible.”
Shardeum plans to host 10 to 15 meetups per month, driving consistent, high-frequency community engagement. Events will take place across India, Nigeria, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, Ghana, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, the UK, and the US.
The Proof of Community meetups are not just events; they are springboards for grassroots network expansion. Each meetup is supported with a comprehensive host playbook, slide deck and video tutorials to ensure quality, scalability, and data-driven feedback loops
About Shardeum
Shardeum is an autoscaling EVM-based layer-1 blockchain. Dynamic state sharding helps keep gas fees low and TPS high as participation grows. Shardeum performs consensus at the transaction level and lowers the computational power needed for validator nodes. This consensus mechanism makes it possible for anyone to run a node while increasing decentralization.
